Deezer, the global music experiences platform, is today reporting that uploads of AI-generated tracks have, for the first time, exceeded half of all daily new music deliveries. Tracks detected as AI-generated reached its peak in June, representing more than 50% of total uploads of new music, with a monthly average of 90,000 tracks. Following this milestone, Deezer will take down generative-AI tracks used to generate fraudulent streams, as well those that haven’t been streamed for 6 months or more.

Deezer has been at the frontline of fighting fraud and reducing payment dilution related to AI music for almost two years. Now that half of all daily uploads are AI-generated tracks, we are taking additional steps to safeguard the rights of artists and songwriters, while maintaining focus on music that fans actually love.

Deezer is now receiving nearly 90,000 fully AI-generated tracks every day, accounting for more than 50% of total daily deliveries on peak days. Deezer’s AI detection tool has been in place since the beginning of 2025, enabling the company to track a steady increase of fully synthetic content on the platform. In June 2026, Deezer became the first streaming platform to explicitly tag AI-generated music for listeners. Over 13.4 million AI-generated tracks were detected and tagged on Deezer in 2025. Deezer’s AI music detection tool sets an industry standard, with the ability to detect AI-generated music from the most prolific generative models, such as Suno and Udio. Although fully AI-generated music currently accounts for only a small fraction of streams on Deezer, between 1-3%, Deezer has found that up to 85% of the streams generated by fully AI-generated tracks were in fact fraudulent in 2025. When detecting stream manipulation of any kind, Deezer excludes the streams from the royalty payments. Songs detected as AI-generated are automatically removed from algorithmic recommendations and are not included in editorial playlists.

In November 2025, Deezer commissioned the world’s first survey focused on perceptions and attitudes towards AI-generated music. The survey was carried out by Ipsos with a total of 9000 people in 8 countries, US, Canada, Brazil, UK, France, Netherlands, Germany and Japan. Key results included: 97% couldn’t tell the difference between fully AI-generated music and human-made music in a blind test with two AI songs and one real song; 80% agree that 100% AI-generated music should be clearly labeled to listeners; 73% of music streaming users would like to know if a music streaming service is recommending 100% AI-generated music; and 52% of respondents feel that 100% AI-generated songs should not be included in charts alongside human-made songs in the main charts. According to a study conducted by CISAC and PMP Strategy, with participation from key industry players (including Deezer), nearly 25% of creators’ revenues are at risk by 2028, which could amount to as much as €4 billion by that time.

Spotify said on September 25, 2025 that in the past 12 months alone, a period marked by the explosion of generative AI tools, Spotify has removed over 75 million spammy tracks. Vocal impersonation is only allowed in music on Spotify when the impersonated artist has authorized the usage. This fall, Spotify will roll out a new music spam filter—a system that will identify uploaders and tracks engaging in these tactics, tag them, and stop recommending them. Spotify is helping develop and will support the new industry standard for AI disclosures in music credits, developed through DDEX. On April 16, Spotify launched a beta feature that allows artists to share how they’ve used AI in their music. Where artists have chosen to disclose through their label or distributor, Song Credits on mobile shows credits for specific contributions like vocals, lyrics, or production. Spotify is already seeing tens of thousands of AI credits submitted daily by artists using AI in their creative process. Because Spotify depends on artist disclosure, the absence of a credit doesn’t mean AI wasn’t used.

In a partner memo obtained by Music Business Worldwide on August 20, 2026, Apple Music wrote: In March, Apple Music introduced AI Transparency Tagging in the content delivery feed. When record labels and distributors submit any piece of content that was materially generated using AI, we ask that they tag it as such. Later this year, we will also make these tags visible to Apple Music users in the form of Made With AI Labels. Content providers will be required to include AI Transparency Tags in any instance where AI was used to create a material portion of the content, including tracks that are AI platform generated. We define AI-platform-generated content as anything that is primarily derived from a generative AI service.
